Abstract
The purpose of this study is to grasp the relationships between perceived meaning and physical characteristics in the outdoor space enclosed by buildings on university campuses. In the experiment subjects rated 91 video pictures of enclosed space on bi-polar adjective scales. The consequences of analysis were as follows : At first, three circular structures of adjectives were ascertained again through MDS analysis. Secondly, the adjective scores about Density/Scale highly correlated with some physical variables. Especially, our feelings'about density increased and the increasing rate gradually diminished as the space is more enclosed by buildings.
