In recent years, installation of food waste grinder drainage systems have been increasing mainly in the metropolitan area. It is reported that the food waste grinder drainage system was installed in 50000 houses in the 2003 year. In the drainage stack system with the food waste grinder drainage system, ground food waste accumulates near a leg joint of house drain and collides with flowing drainage water so as to generate instant positive pressure exceeding a judgment standard thereby causing seal destruction of trap. This has been regarded as a problem. The following are the three objectives of this study. (1) Limited to the drainage stack system for high-rise apartments and to grasp flowing of ground food waste and drainage upon being separated when the ground food waste and the drainage runs down the drainage stack. (2) Show the modes of occurrence of accumulation of the ground food waste near the leg of the drainage stack system upon being classified in form, and to grasp the influence of trap to seal and the relationship between the forms of the modes and pressure fluctuation. (3) To provide the basic data for performance evaluation and regarding matters in design of future food waste grinder drainage systems.
