Abstract

We investigated the minimum illuminance level that enables the safe tracheal suction of children by family at night. We performed experiments of simulated operations under the warm-colored illuminations (Tcp=3000 K) from 200 lx to 3 lx by 11 subjects. As the result, the complexion and lip color changes can be identified at 3 lx by all subjects. On the other hand, there are great differences between subjects in the tube insertion task to cannula hole. However, five out of 11 subjects can perform the insertion task without difficulty at the illuminance of 3 lx.
