Abstract

We measured the thermal environment in office buildings in Sapporo and Osaka, which have installed high-performance inner window retrofit called Inner-Glass-Unit. We analyzed the room temperature, Mean Radiative Temperature (MRT), and Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) in the perimeter and interior zones before and after the renovations. The results showed that, in both buildings, the temperature and PMV near the windows and in the central part of the rooms are almost same. This finding indicates that high-performance interior window retrofits can eliminate perimeter zones near windows in existing office buildings.
