The seismic response of steel tubular transmission towers is expected to be reduced by the equivalent viscous damping resulting from joint slippage. In contemporary society, seismic damping systems are widely employed as earthquake countermeasures, particularly for the retrofit of building and tower structures. In this study, a hysteresis model is proposed to characterize the equivalent viscous damping induced by the slippage of brace joints and the effect of its modeling method on seismic response control retrofit.
