Abstract
The obtained results for the shear walls without opening by a lattice analogy method have been reported in the Part I, II, III. In this report, the deformations of the three-storied walls with opening under the uniformly distributed lateral loads are investigated. The types of the opening used in this paper are of three kinds, rectangular, long widthwise and lengthwise respectively, as shown in Fig. 1, and the sizes of these walls are given in Table 1. The main results obtained are as follows : 1. The deflection curves for each wall are affected considerably by the types of the opening. Moreover, the effects of the widthwise opening on the lateral deflection are strongest, the rectangular come second. 2. The lateral deformation curves of the wall with the rectangular opening differ little together for ξ≤0.4, but when ξ is larger than 0.4, the curves for each wall are not closely. 3. Except the case that the opening area is very large, if the opening area are equal, the lateral stiffness of the wall with the rectangular opening is the highest and the longwise is the least. 4. When the opening area is relatively small, if Eqs. (5) and (6) for the wall with the rectangular opening, Eqs. (5) and (7) for the widthwise and Eqs. (4)(8) for the lengthwise are used respectively, the lateral deflections of each wall could be calculated, which agree well with the values may be obtained by the lattice analogy.
