Abstract
This paper presents an experimental research to clarily what kind of reinforcement is most effective for beam-to-column connections of frames subjected to lateral forces. The connections tested in this research consist of box-column and wideflang-beam and their webs are reinforced by increase in thickness of connection-web, by penetration of beam-web through column and by use of oblique plates. Seventeen cruciform specimens are loaded to produce anti-symmetrical bending in their arms and shearing deformations of connections are measured by dial guages. Consideration is given to characteristic of efficiency on stiffening and strengthening the connections and it is concluded that increase in thickness of connection-web would be more recommendable than the other reinforce methods.
