Abstract
This paper describes an analytical method predicting the hysteretic energy dissipation requirement. The proposed method will be discussed in succeeding two reports. First, new analytical technique is presented for the estimation of probability distribution of hysteretic energy dissipation for the stationary response of bi-linear hysteretic single-degree-of-freedom system subjected to non-white noise excitation, and they are compared with the results by Monte-Carlo simulations.
