An earthquake resistant design methood is proposed for inordinary structures which are characterised by irregular mass distribution and complicated constitution of frames. By imposing some restrictions on strength distribution over the structure, damage distribution in those structures becomes controlable. The design method is constructed on the basis of comparison between the energy input due to earthquakes and the energy absorpton capacity of structure.
