A series of on-line experiments has been carried out using steel and reinforced concrete models. The experimental results were examined from the view point of energy response and following results were obtained. i) Response parameters such as maximum displacement, velocity etc can be evaluated quantitatively from the intensive input energy around principal shock of an earthquake. ii) Total input energy is independent of the restoring force characteristics.
