In this paper, we present analytical approach based on a lower boundary theorem using a truss and arch model, for predicting the ultimate behavior of prestressed concrete beams with web openings. Comparison of systematic test results was made in terms of the ultimate strength and modes of failure. Based on the comparison, we present a rational design method to prevent the premature failure at the openings
