Abstract
The purpose of this research is to consider the possibility of the university-based urban design center, which is an urban design and planning specialized agency putting a base on a university. The feature of a university is in the opportunity of service learning through practice. As a result of analyzing two examples (Cleveland and Minneapolis), the three possibilities and the issues became clear. The first point is that university-based design center has the possibility as a promotion organization of urban design and planning. The second point is that various financial sources are necessary for managing such design center. Third point is making a clear structure of involving students in urban desing and planning practice.
