RESEARCH ON URBAN HEAT ENVIRONMENT USING NUMERICAL SIMULATION : Comparison of heat environment between the present and the Edo period(Urban Planning)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain a basic knowledge for urban redevelopment considering the heat environment. Numerical simulations using the mesoscale meteorological model and the urban scale k-ε model were carried out to compare the heat environment in the urban area between the present and the Edo period. The results show that the estimated temperature under the present environmental situation is higher than that under the Edo period environmental situation caused by the artificial heat release and the urban structure.
