Abstract
This paper analyzes the rate and amount of inter prefectural in-migration and out-migration of people aged 60 to 64 by municipalities, based on the 2010 Population Census in Japan. There are only 25 municipalities of which number of 60 to 64 year old in migrants from other prefectures exceeds 100 while at the same time surpasses 5% of the overall 60 to 64 year old population of the municipality. Half of which is a municipality in a coastal area or mountain resort which is close to the Tokyo metropolitan area. On the other hand, suburban cities, such as Funabashi and Suita, have a relatively higher rate and amount of out migrants.
