Since the method of the rapid plate loading test was introduced into Japan in 1998, it was used as execution management and quality control technique. After that some investigators have made the studies for the test availability, and the authors have also made the rapid loading tests and the static loading tests on sandy soil to investigate the load-settlement relationships and the stress distributions within the soil during the tests. In this paper, it was found out that the rapid loading test results were in good agreement with the static loading test results in the elastic domain of the soil. Furthermore, the stress distributions measured during the rapid loading test were discussed.
