The evaporative cooling of the roof surface was tested in such a way that water was automatically sprinkled by a humidity sensor over a mock-up of a folded-plate roof of a factory.
The test results that the temperature of the roof surface fell by 8.3 degrees centigrade and the room temperature by 3.8 degrees showed that the evaporative cooling was effective. The effectiveness of the system is also confirmed from the simulations in Tokyo that applied roof insulating materials 50 millimeters thick, as indicated in the findings that the cooling load is reduced by approximately 12 percent.
