DAMAGE ARTICLES APPEARED ON LOCAL NEWSPAPERS IN HOKKAIDO

- Literature survey of the off Nemuro earthquake of March 22, 1894 Part 2 -

Abstract

Continuing to the previous paper, supplemental data concerning to the Off Nemuro Earthquake of March 22, 1894 are surveyed utilizing the scrapbooks of newspaper articles on earthquake disasters archived in Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo. Recently these archived data are opened on the Web site of Headquarters of Earthquake Research Promotion, Japan. These articles are downloaded and arranged in time series and listed. More casualties and damage in rural area are found and tsunami disasters accompanied floating ices in various places are also revealed.
