The purpose of this survey is to grasp the current status of after-school child care centers and the local government’s response to national policy.The results are as follows.
1) 93% of municipalities put after-school child care centers in place, and both the current status and the subjects for improving facilities differ according to the population size of locality.
2) 14% of those municipalities have ones in where there are more than 70 registered children, and these try to make them smaller and adequate size.
3) Some local governments set a standard level uniquely. 52% of the municipalities have a capacity standard, and 27% of them set capacity standard based on the guideline, on the other hand less than 15% of them have ones of area, space and utilities.
