A new directional sound reinforcement system was developed to solve the problem of directional deviation between the visual and acoustic perception in multi-purpose halls, which cannot be avoided by a conventional sound reinforcement system. By applying this system to some halls, it was found that this system is effective to get a more intelligible speech than a conventional one, because of fine localization and ambience of original sound sources on stage which give such a sense of presence as if we hear real sound without electric sound amplification devices.
