Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to interpret the change of the spatial representation and its meaning of “Yuan-zi”, -courtyard spaces of Chinese traditional courtyard-style house called “Si-he-yuan” -, in the Chinese Movie “Sunflower”. As a result, the spatial representation followed to story deployment of every four ages can be clarified, through examining the relationship among materials, living behavior, and cinematography. Moreover, based on this, the change of spatial representation and its analogical meaning were also considered. And the anecdotal report showed concretely the new knowledge by integration of these viewpoints and methods.
