Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of Toyohara factory buildings and company houses constructed by Karafuto Sugar in Sakhalin, Russia. Some drawings for the factory buildings were discovered anew. These drawings along with field investigation help to confirm the existence of some buildings and warehouses. This examination, other drawings and other materials show the Toyohara factory and the Shibetsu factory constructed by Meiji Sugar in Hokkaido had similar plant designs. There is a high possibility that these company houses’ land lots and at least 3-company house’s frames have not changed since this factory was built.
