We examined the effect of sliding door handles that expand operation range in terms of door-opening behavior of wheelchair users. An experiment was conducted to verify if the wheelchair users could open the sliding door 750mm which allowed them to go through the door without bending their trunk forward. Results showed that the range of the wheelchair positions allowed the subjects to open the width were expanded by the door handles with wide operation range. It also showed that the situation which the wheelchair was facing 45 degrees to the sliding door was more effective than other directions.
