Abstract

The value of historical heritages is expected to last for a long period of time, hence maintaining of the authenticity and integrity of a historical building is extremely important.
Our premise in the renovation of RIKKYO UNIVERSITY’s Main Building was to inherit the identity of the RIKKYO Campus shared by the students and their graduates for many years. Not only taking typical renovation method of clearly dividing the new and the existing portions, but we have adopted new design elements with sensitive respect to the building’s history, along with accurate records and documents to pass on to the next generation.
