The authors have been continuing literature surveys on inland damaging earthquakes in Akita prefecture. The 2011 off Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake also caused damage in Akita prefecture. This type of mega earthquake in the Pacific Ocean have been occurred repeatedly. In this paper, the 1968 Tokachi-oki earthquake is picked up as a typical one and literature survey is performed with reports and newspaper articles at that time. Several damages in human casualties, buildings, railways, roads and so on are revealed. Induced effects to Akita prefecture are also listed up and discussed.
