Abstract

This study aims to propose effective teaching tools and architectural education methods of indoor luminous environment using 1/10 assembly house models for junior high school students. The sun orbit device was developed as a supplementary tool. Architectural lectures concerning incidence of direct sunlight and insolation shading were conducted for 606 junior high school students in Nagaoka city during 2016, 2018 and 2019. Architectural education using these models and devices deepened students’ understanding concerning the variation of indoor luminous environment form the viewpoints of sun orbits in each season and time, and locations of a window in a house.
