Abstract

Urban areas in Hokkaido were constructed based on the “urban area maps”, allocating detailed dimensions and public facilities. By considering the content of plan changes, it may be possible to clarify the basic thinking regarding urban planning and design at that time. From the two urban areas, we confirmed that the information described in the design map had been realized with a high level of accuracy. As part of this, characterization of the roads was prioritized based on their width, and then later they were made uniform in terms of housing area.
