This paper presents the current housing situations for international students, based on three questionnaire surveys. As the major research outcome, it is difficult for the university department to understand the housing preferences of international students, and to know the real picture after moving in. Although there is a certain demand of international students for private rental housing, management companies are reluctant to let properties to foreign residents, mainly because of concern over communication and credit. Therefore, it would be useful to establish a liaison organization that continuously engages and shares information among universities, international students, and management companies.
