This study examined lighting control methods for the three adjacent spaces of the entrance, foyer, and hall in a public cultural facility. The suitability of the foyer’s lighting environments according to programs were evaluated by subjects. The appropriate illuminance and color temperature of the foyer were found to differ depending on the performance in the hall. Next, the audiences’ behaviors in the continuous space were estimated. Based on these surveys, a new lighting control method that integrates the hall and foyer was proposed. It could be applied to control admission time and smooth spectator replacement.
