This study develops a location optimization planning method for local public facilities and applies it to a merged municipality. Considering facility selectivity and inhabitant’s living area based on a questionnaire survey, an allocation optimization method was constructed. Applying this model, it was possible to reduce floor areas to the target without any areas becoming inconvenient for access. The problems are to reflect the quantitative preference of facilities into the facility selection model, to consider facilities reduction process, and to set the appropriate levels for each service.
