“Kitayamaso” built in the northern mountains of Kyoto City in 1942 was constructed by carpenters but members of a high school mountaineering club contributed themselves directly by leveling the ground and carrying construction materials. Afterward, they gradually accumulated maintenance experience through club activities and some went on to work in construction or forestry after graduation. Members are currently doing the renovation by themselves, having developed their own methods, freely giving form to their ideas.
