This research aims to clarify the effects of road surface design, especially those with tram tracks, on viewers’ perception of streetscape. The experiments were conducted on the viewers’ memory and impression. As a result of memory test, it was confirmed that the existence of tram tracks makes a difference in the memory of streetscape. Also, from the impression evaluation, it was found that impression differs depending on the road pavement and that green tracks tend to be preferred over asphalt or concrete tracks. Also, stone and brick pavements are preferred especially in inner-city streetscapes but not always in suburban streetscapes.
