An index that indicates the intensity of seismic ground motion that is highly correlated with the maximum sliding displacement of a sliding foundation was searched. Using not only the seismic intensity, maximum acceleration and velocity, and spectral intensity that are the indices of magnitude of seismic motion but also the effective velocity and proposed index, the correlation coefficients between these indices and maximum sliding displacement of the foundation subjected to seismic motion over 6+ JMA seismic intensity observed in Japan were calculated. Consequently, the correlation coefficient was noted to be the largest for proposed index.
