Abstract

Understanding vibration characteristics is fundamental and important information for evaluating the seismic safety of traditional wooden buildings and verifying damage in historical earthquakes. In this paper, we conducted ambient vibration measurements on the ground and buildings of World Heritage Site Nijo-jo castle. Then, we investigated changes in the predominant frequency of the ground and the natural frequencies and vibration modes of the buildings. In addition, we analyzed the effect of coupled vibrations on multiple connected buildings based on the overall shaking of the building.
