The transition of standards of chemical admixture was investigated by literature survey. Japanese standards were affected by mainly ASTM until the 1960s, but have followed their own path until international harmonization in the late 1990s while referring overseas standards. In the 1960s various organizations established their own standards, but after that the commonality of standards was promoted, and many of them were integrated to JIS A 6204. Since the late 1990s JIS standardization of new chemical admixtures has not progressed. There is a tendency to respond by adding new performance to the name while assuming the conformity with existing standards.
