Abstract

This study examined a crowd evacuation safety scenario targeting a pool area in a multi-purpose park located on the coast with a risk of tsunamis with the multi-agent simulation. This study compared multiple crowd scenarios that combined a “human guidance scenario” and a “safety design scenario. By increasing the number of exits and optimizing their layout, the evacuation completion time was reduced, and the proportion of individuals completing the evacuation improved significantly. This study suggested the importance of considering in advance the impact of safety designs, such as exit renovations and new emergency exit locations, on crowd evacuation.
