Abstract

This study aims to clarify the motion characteristics of staying people’s activities on the road to obtain knowledge that contributes to the coexistence between the public-life of people and passing personal-mobility-vehicles. Specifically, it aims to determine the size of staying people’s activity area occupied by their motion trajectory through an observational survey of the staying space on the road and analysis of the observed video images. The results indicated that the size of activity area varies based on the attributes of the people and nature of their activities.
