Abstract

NLT sheathed with structural plywood was tested for its in-plane shear properties. Plywood sheathed NLT showed higher yield strength and initial stiffness than NLT with no sheathing. Load deformation curve of the plywood sheathed NLT was derived by applying theories proposed by Kamiya and Sha. The calculated result well traced the load deformation curve of the test result at the relatively small deformation level but underestimated the load at relatively large deformation level. Embedment of the lumbers composing NLT was not modeled and this incomplete modeling may have caused the difference between the test result and the calculated result.
