To evaluate the thermal insulation performance of TS560MPa steel studs with web slots, material test, exterior wall panel experiment and corresponding numerical analysis are conducted. Thorough these test and analysis, it is confirmed that studs with 3 5 rows of web slots tend to have lower apparent thermal conductivity. Also it is confirmed that panels using studs with 5 rows of web slots tend to have lower thermal transmittance. Furthermore, it is indicated by numerical analysis that these results are because steel studs can create a large and non-linear gradient of temperature changing on web in-plane especially around web slots.
