ON THE WEAK TECHNOLOGY : By analyzing the sustainability of Japanese traditional townhouses which were called "Nagaya" in Osaka city(History and Theory of Architecture)

Abstract

Some of "Nagaya", the Japanese traditional townhouses, have survivied over a century, by undergoing several renovations. But the way of renovation is very temporary and gradual. Why the Nagaya survived in spite of the weak way of renovation? The purpose of this study is to find a reason of their long surviving with their weak renovational technologies.
