Examination for selection of β-counting method and AMS method in ¹⁴C dating

Abstract

Authors reported on the calibrated ages given for travertine terrace deposits collected from southeast of Miyako Island (Omoto et al., 2011). Several ¹⁴C ages determined were coincided with each other however others were far from 3σ error range. In this presentation the authors tried to analyze the estranged causes and propose which kind of  ¹⁴C dating method is appropriate when we determine the  ¹⁴C ages of collected materials under limited conditions of β-counting method and AMS method.
