Activities in Kamikochi where disaster measures are destroying nature

Abstract

Mr. Shimodaira, director of the forestry office in Matsumoto, said that past constructions for erosion control in Kamikochi sometimes damaged the natural vegetation. Therefore in future they decided to change the disaster measures. This change was made by efforts of many persons, such as Mr. Sotei, forester, and Prof. Suzuki in Shinshu University. In addition, activities of Res. Group for Natural History of Kamikochi contributed very much. The most important point is the human relations around the forester.
