Abstract
In recent years, the impact of tourism on the socioeconomic structure has attracted the governments' attention, and the government has realized that various policies and marketing strategies concerning tourism are required to promote Japanese regions. Earlier, in the decision-making process of planning or execution of a tourism policy, statistical information on the objective structure of a region serve as useful data. This study contributes fundamental information on the distribution of tourism resources and the regional characteristics of tourism resources in Japan. Area statistical techniques are used to quantify and analyze the data.
