Abstract
This paper investigates characteristics of population recovery in central Tokyo in the 2000s. We find that the situation was a little bit changed in the late 2000s comparing the late 1990s. Population recovery in the late 2000s is characterized as follows. Ikebukuro area attracted foreigners who partly contributed the population growth of the area. Ueno area also experienced population increase. New residents were mainly living in rent houses which were supplied by private sectors rather than privately owned condominiums.
