Abstract
Precipitating system around Sarawak, Malaysia was studied with operational meteorological radars. Precipitating system was observed when easterly wind components were dominated . On the contrary, radar echo was diminished with westerly winds. We made monthly averaged diurnal variation composite of radar echo, MTSAT IR1, and TRMM data. Radar echo was appeared in inland area from early afternoon to around 10 p.m. Precipitating system developed over the off coast of Borneo from 10 p.m. to around 4 a.m., and land breeze maximum observed at 7 a.m. Sequence of appearance of precipitating system and land breeze is different from WMONEX case.Line shaped long rain band appeared off coast of Borneo in several times, and its corresponded with large scale wind convergence and strong SST gradient zone.
