Abstract
The Sendai Coastal Lowland, which faces the Pacific Ocean, is 50 km long from north to south and 10-15 km wide from east to west. The Nanakita River and the Natori River flow through the lowland. Natural levees and back marshes are distributed in the inner area of the beach ridge ranges. And there are several NL-AC systems (natural levee and abandoned channel systems), which run into the back marshes from the main river courses. The purpose of this study is to determine the periods of mega-floods during Holocene, depending on the ages of mega-floods that covered the Sendai Coastal Lowland. The result of the study, mega-floods attacked this coastal aria during 2500-2400 yrBP and 1600-1500 yrBP.
