Host: The Association of Japanese Geographers
This research aims at examining what kind of regional development have been carried out in the northeast China since the foundation of the People’s Republic. The northeast district of China played a role of resource supply base as a colonial economy for Japan during the period of Manchuria. The region was still an important resource supply base providing strategic goods for the main part of China in the early stage of the People’s Republic. Passing through long economic stagnation, called “Northeast phenomenon”, the region has started to grow in recent years.
