Abstract
in japan,manuals for military engineers,division of surveys were published in 1875,'89 and '93. all of those books were textbooks for topographic surveys. though the former two editions were translated directly from french regimentary school textbooks, the last edition was composed, presumably, by japanese army, based on the former editions and otter books and their various practices of topogaraphic surveys.
