Characteristics of beachrock develop on the Nansei Islands

Abstract

Generally speaking, beachrock develops on the tropical or sub-tropical coast. Omoto investigated about 30 islands located in the Nansei Islands, southwest of Japan since 1993. He read a paper on the characteristics
of beachrock, i.e. distribution, radiocarbon age, origin of beachrock, growth rate of beachrock, sea-level change and tectonic movement, and finally he reviewed on the future study of beachrock.
