抄録

This paper aims to analyze the food and agricultural products market in the period of high economic growth of Vietnam, focusing on the remarkable changes in food consumption. As the national economy has maintained steady growth since 2000s, the Vietnamese people have experienced a significant change of diet, not just in terms of the quantity of food consumption but also in the quality. This has clearly contributed to the improvement of the nutritional health of the people and enhanced pleasure at the table. At the same time, however, notable increases in the risk of food poisoning are seen due to consumption of purchased foods that are produced, distributed and/ or processed through inadequate procedural requirements and in unhygienic facilities. With these changes and trends in mind, both the public and private sector should honestly keep working toward providing a highly reliable and safety food system for consumers.
