Abstract

Electrothermal evaporation was used as efficient samping technique for microanalysis in combination with glow discharge in an one-step procedure (FANES) and with ICP-AES in a two-step procedure FANES gives excellent absolute detection limits for pure solutions, similar to ETA-AAS, with the advantage of multielemental determination. FANES and ETV-ICP-AES give similar results for real analytical problems, e.g. analysis of drinking water, In FANES matrix-trace separation is necessary to avoid interferences.
